PSJA Student Leaders Host 11th Annual Track of Hope

PHARR– Student Council leaders from across Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) hosted the 11th Annual Track of Hope Cancer Awareness & Relief Walk on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the PSJA Stadium.

The student-led event is dedicated to raising awareness about cancer and supporting those affected by the disease by raising funds and bringing students, families, and community members together for a night of remembrance, hope, and solidarity.

Organized by student leaders from all PSJA ISD high schools, the event highlighted the power of unity, service, and compassion. Throughout the event students worked collaboratively to share educational information and resources on the different cancers that affect the thousands worldwide.

Additionally, PSJA students fundraised money through donations and the sale of t-shirts, with all proceeds going towards 10 PSJA Family member currently battling cancer helping ease financial burden as they undergo cancer treatment.

“I’m very thankful for the students who organized this event and raised funds to help my son,” said PSJA Parent Lazaro Villarreal. “The feeling of knowing we have a whole community behind our family truly means the world to us.”

The evening concluded with the word HOPE being illuminated in candlelight with all attendees walking a lap around the PSJA Stadium behind the 10 fundraiser recipients, symbolizing that no one fights alone and that an entire community stands behind them as they face their courageous battle with cancer.

Now in its 11th year, the PSJA Track of Hope continues to exemplify the strength and leadership of PSJA students proving that when a community comes together with purpose, it can bring light, encouragement, and hope to those who need it most.
