PSJA ISD Student Films Advance to UIL State Competition

PHARR – Four Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) student film productions advance to the University of Interscholastic Legue (UIL) Young Filmmakers State Competition to be held in Austin, TX on February 26, 2026.

The UIL Film Competition provides academically eligible high school students at UIL member schools with the opportunity to showcase their creativity through cinematic storytelling. The contest is entirely student-driven, with films written, produced, directed, and edited by students from start to finish. With no required theme or prompt, participants are encouraged to use their imagination, think creatively, and focus on what matters most, telling a compelling story through film.

Congratulations to the following State Bound productions:

  • El Museo 956 – PSJA Southwest ECHS – 5A Documentary

  • Stories We Tell: Saving the San Juan Hotel – PSJA North ECHS – 5A Documentary

  • Vampires Will Never Hurt You – PSJA North ECHS – 5A Traditional Animation

  • Your Reality – PSJA North ECHS – 5A Digital Animation

By advancing to the next round of the competition, students have earned the opportunity to travel to Austin, TX, where their selected films will be screened at the UIL State Film Festival.
